    Summer has arrived, and that means a pick-up in work for all types of forklifts. Before the heavy work starts, you should do a tire check on your forklift fleet. There are two categories for forklift tires – cushion and pneumatic. Cushion tires are solid rubber, commonly smooth, and made for indoor use. There are two types of pneumatic tires, solid and air filled. Like cushion tires, solid pneumatic tires are made of solid rubber. Although, solid pneumatic tires have tread making it good for indoor and outdoor use. Air-filled pneumatic tires are similar to a truck tires and are made for rough terrains

    When to Replace a Cushion Forklift Tire

    For any tire, check for any physical abnormalities such as chunking, tears, or flat spots. For cushion tires, specifically, check to see if the metal band and the tire are still properly bonded . If a screwdriver can fit between the separated are, then it's time for a tire replacement.

    When to Replace Pneumatic Forklift Tires

    For any tire, check for any physical abnormalities such as chunking, tears, or flat spots. For pneumatic tires, look for the wear line. Wear lines are built into the tire to indicate when the tire has worked through too much thread. Wear lines are commonly red, yellow, or orange.
