Usually when you need to rent a forklift, you need it right now!  Before you call around looking for the best price, there are many other factors to take in account.  Whoever you are calling about renting, are they asking you the right questions?  The right questions need to be asked to find the best rental forklift for your application.   Delta Materials Handling has been renting/leasing forklifts for the Mid-South since 1960.  We have a fleet of 500 rental forklifts to rent at all our 4 locations.  We rent daily, weekly, monthly and yearly with a broad spectrum of forklifts to fit your application.   Here are some questions that need to be answered before you rent a forklift.

    1. What is the weight of the product you are lifting?
The most common has a basic lifting capacity of 5,000 lbs.  Weight capacity is a necessary requirement when renting a forklift.  You do not want to pay for a rental only to find that it cannot do the job.
    2. What is length of the product you are lifting?
This will help determine the capacity of the forklift you need to rent.
    3. How high are you lifting?
Just as weight and length of the products are important measurement – height needs to be as accurate as possible.  The forks need to reach the height you are trying to reach, but the forklift must also have the ability to lift the weight of your load at that height.  A forklift that cannot tolerate the amount of weight to the proper height is not only a waste of time and money but very Dangerous.
    4. How is your product packaged? Is it on pallets or sitting on the floor?  Is it secured – such as with shrink wrapped or strapped?
You might need a special fork attachment.
    5. Will you be operating the forklift inside or outside?
The environment makes a difference in determine the type of tires the forklift will need.
    6. What is the required turning radius and what is the minimum aisle width?
You will need a forklift to be able to maneuver through the space in which you are working.
    7. Will you need the forklift rental for a day, week, month or more?
This will help you with getting the best rental price for your budget
